COMPUTER:
Computers are electronic devices that can be programmed to perform tasks. They work by following instructions, called programs, that tell them what to do. The basic components of a computer include:
* Hardware: This is the physical part of the computer, like the CPU, memory, storage devices, and input/output devices.
* Software: These are the programs and instructions that tell the hardware what to do. There are two main types:
* System Software: This includes the operating system (like Windows, macOS, or Linux) that manages the computer's resources.
* Application Software: These are programs like word processors, web browsers, and games that users interact with.
Computers process information in several steps:
1. Input: Data is entered into the computer through devices like a keyboard or mouse.
2. Processing: The CPU (Central Processing Unit) processes the data according to the instructions in the software.
3. Storage: Data and instructions are stored in memory (RAM) for quick access and in storage devices (hard drives, SSDs) for long-term storage.
4. Output: The processed information is displayed or outputted through devices like a monitor or printer.
Computers have evolved significantly over time, from large, room-sized machines to the smartphones we carry today. They have become essential tools in almost every aspect of modern life, from communication and education to business and entertainment.
